Countryside Decorating's Interior Painting Basic Costs Guide
Written and intended for fully furnished and occupied homes.

Walls: Standard height of 8' begin at $1.00 per square foot.

Accent Walls: Amount per sf can vary based on color. $1.50 per sf and up.

Baseboard: Begins at $1.50 per linear foot. Size & profile affect cost.

Ceilings: Dependent on height, surface texture and access difficulty. $1-3/sf.

Crown Molding: $2.00 per lf and up. Based on size, profile and access.

Door Frames: Full Openings (Doing both sides) Begin at $75 each.

Doors: Smooth flat doors begin at $75 each to do both sides.

Bedroom in Countryside
A warm off white for the walls. White semi-gloss on the trim.

This bedroom was basically a complete remodel. New carpeting was installed, old "sticky" plastic closet shelving was demo'd out and many wall repairs were needed.
Mother-in-Law Suite in Trinity
A pastel blue was custom mixed for this room's walls and done in flat sheen.

The homeowners here had the adjacent bathroom upgraded at the same time the bedroom was being done. The smaller brown dresser was refinished to match the new decor and wall color.
Shiplap Wall in Starkey Ranch
Color is called "Shell White". Matte sheen.

All the peripheral areas including the ceiling were protected and masked off here in order to present the best possible visual outcome on this project by spray application of the material.
Office in Trinity
This office at a residence in the Foxwood neighborhood got "Sandbar" on the walls. An off-white called "Sugar Dust" was chosen for all the trim.

Bedroom in Palm Harbor
"White Heron" is the wall color in this bedroom. White semi-gloss on the baseboard.

The old color has mostly been covered up in the first photo above. This bedroom is a good example of a smaller area with a larger sized bed which does play a role in the planning of interior bedrooms getting painted. The most common method of facilitating the walls work in these scenarios is temporarily moving the bed from one side to another and therefore allowing the room to be painted in 2 or sometimes 3 "shifts" before being fully completed. The baseboards are done together at the same time with the wall areas if they're also being painted.
Stairwell
This stairwell has two different pastel wall colors, a lighter green and an off white.
Both of these colors were custom mixed for the homeowners here. All baseboard, windows and the other trim aspects at this location were done in white gloss.
During Photos
Collecting sheets, towels and various different blankets in our travels over the years is common for painting contractors. All of the above are mixed in here with traditional drop clothes as this stairwell is being done.
Ceiling Tray
This ceiling tray accent and the surrounding wall spaces in the room itself have all been done in "Creamy Mushroom". The ceilings have been done in white flat.

Ceiling trays present a challenge based on their height and the logistics involved in preparing a working platform from which to do the work. A rolling baker scaffold is sometimes used in order to take advantage of the additional room and maneuverability they offer.
Bedroom in Starkey Ranch
Wall color is "Always Neutral". The baseboard, window trim, door and all other trim aspects in this home were done in white semi-gloss.

Interior Painting in Trinity
Walls were done in "Awakening". The trim color is "Blank Canvas".

Crown molding was installed in the main areas and bedrooms. This was finished in semi-gloss sheen.

Interior Trim
This unique corner piece was done in untinted white. Semi-gloss sheen.

Although hard to discern in the photo, this furniture item had been finished originally with a solvent based product. That point required some thought, as using a similar material this time was ruled out based on the home being occupied.
It was ultimately repainted in place using a waterborne coating that would adhere to a properly prepared surface. This material was then sprayed at lower pressure with a fine finish tip. Color is untinted white. Semi-gloss sheen.
Hall Bath in New Port Richey
"Blissful Blue" for this hall bath.

Getting ready to begin on the window trim in this bath. Although small, this bath required many hours of work over several days.
An HVLP sprayer handled the detailed trim finishing work. It can be seen at lower left in the above photo.
Ceiling Trays in Trinity
Three colors were involved in these trays. The darkest was used in the four rectangles. The remainder was done in the wall color. The crown molding pieces are the home's main trim color.

A wide angle lens was used for these two photos. The images were taken from the same position in order to best show off this work from a before & after perspective.
This one was in the main living area of the home. There were a total of three of these rectangular ceiling trays and all were done using the same color scheme.
Master Bedroom
Wall color is "Sleek White". All trim aspects were done in white gloss.
Painting all of the different trim aspects here in gloss sheen did require more labor and surface prep but the outcome truly shows off the beautiful woodwork in this master suite. The lighting's reflection is visible in many locations.
Before
This was an older home and the trim had been done with an oil based enamel when it was built. A significant yellowing of this coating has occured over the course of time and can be seen in this before picture. The "original" trim color is very likely to have been much closer to the new white's appearance when it was first put on
TV Room Storage Closets
A pastel green was chosen for the walls in this entertainment room in matte sheen. The closet doors, large wooden shutters blinds at right and all other trim were done in white gloss.
Two more finished views of these closet doors.
Plastic masking was used on these openings to facilitate spraying the finish.

The room has been dropped off and equipment has begun to be brought in.
Interior Painting in Trinity
Aspects done in this unique room were painting the french doors wall after wallpaper had been removed, the four french doors themselves, the long green cabinet top at left and the trim at the large window.
Wallpaper Removal
The stripping of old wallpaper is always an unknown until the work actually begins. Some of the more problematic removal difficulties are getting paper to come off an unprimed wall and when specialty type adhesives were used to hang the paper. Another common occurrence is when super glue has been used to repair seams.
Post Wallpaper Removal Repairs Work
Wall repairs can require more than one pass with drywall mud and sanding depending on the situation and how much removal damage is present.

Hallway Painting
Being able to use large portable fans in the painting and finishing industry to assist in the drying process is a very helpful tool for interior painting work.

Fans will also serve to improve the very noticeable increase in humidity levels that can occur when painting in tightly enclosed areas inside a home.
Bedroom in Starkey Ranch
Wall color is "Summer Sunset". Bifolds, base and trim are white semi-gloss.

This had previously been the bedroom of a teenager and as part of the work done all of the glow in the dark stickers on the ceiling were removed!
Sun Room in Palm Harbor
"Honied White" in flat on the walls for this sun room.

Bi-fold and flat doors were also done at this location. Semi-gloss sheen.

"Bone White" in flat on the walls.
Ceiling & Walls Texturing
Wallpaper and popcorn had been removed from the walls and ceilings in this room. This was then followed by some remedial surface repairs in preparation for re-texturing everything. After the texturing was complete and the ceiling was painted the plastic could be removed from the windows and the remainder of the painting work was done.
Almost Done
The baseboard was later re-installed and painted to match the windows trim.
Accent Walls in New Port Richey
"Dorian Gray" surrounded by "Nimbus" on the other three walls in this master suite.

In the first photo here we still see the builder grade flat white on the walls from when the homeowners purchased this new property. Once the closing took place, we were tasked with painting this home's interior walls throughout with the colors they chose. ScrubMaster from Florida Paints in eggshell sheen was used for all this walls work except the kitchen and baths which got satin.
Other accent walls that were done in this home
"Favorite Jeans" was used for this bedroom.
"Dorian Gray" in the main living areas.
Fireplace Wall in Trinity
Whitewashed custom color on the fireplace bricks. Also done at this location were the bar cabinets, the surrounding area walls and the bar top.

Larger scale interior remodel work does require time. In this particular instance the work took place over the course of about three weeks.

The only new things present in this early view is the freshly installed and still unfinished bar top and the three floating shelves visible on the wall above the bar.
Bedroom in Trinity
This 3rd bedroom's walls were done using a custom color.
During Photos
Several modifications were made to this bedroom. Among these were the removal of the small bar cabinet set, new flooring was installed and the closet had a shelving system built into it

Living Room in Trinity
A custom color was mixed for the walls here and was done in matte sheen.

After closely assessing this grasscloth's condition a decision was made to paint over it with a new wall color. A solvent primer was used to create a base coat and seal the surface of this rough material.
