Painting Brand New Front Entry Doors
These two gorgeous doors called for using some of the very best coatings. When a homeowner has clearly invested a great deal of time and financial resources in their selection, then we as the contractor will be doing the same with the paints used and the labor involved to produce results like those seen below in the finished photo. This type opening is not a few hours with some sandpaper, a brush and a quart of enamel. It begins with the very first discussion with the homeowner and an in person assessment of the entire opening itself usually follows. Once the actual work begins it is methodically done. There is no rush in fine finishing work of this type. It's a steady process of surface preparation, door and surrounding area masking and finally the actual spraying of the doors. Important considerations that must be acknowledged can be as basic as the sun's position throughout the day, is there an overhead awning or similar cover that may or may not provide shade and others.

Painting the Interior Side of a Front Door in Starkey Park
In addition to painting this door, the sidelights were done in a coordinating accent color. A newly installed section of shiplap adjacent to the entry opening was also sprayed.

"Black Magic". Satin sheen.
Painting the Exterior Side of a Front Door in New Port Richey
This was a brand new door from what had been a model home in a neighborhood that is still in progress. The homeowners here decided to have it painted to match their exterior shutters to create a more coordinated look. Painting a front door in cases like these requires a fair amount of masking work, general prep and using a drop cloth for the surrounding "floor" in order to achieve that classic sprayed look on a smooth surface.

Door color is "Gale Force". Satin sheen.
Painting the Exterior Side of a Front Door
"Restoring" this door took place over a few days. The
desired outcome was not to make it look brand new
again but instead to maintain many of it's venerable old characteristics from yesteryear in the process.

An older wood door. Before photo.

We pickup our door in these two photos after the initial cleaning and preliminary sanding work have been completed and the initial base coat of primer has been done. The darker colored material in the right hand shot is a wood filler that was tinted slightly darker in order to make the overall finishing process easier.

A more distant view on the left of just some of all the various tools and little helpers that are involved in this type work. More filling has taken place in the right hand photo above. The smaller number of repaired areas is due to the surface continuing to be improved upon as the work progresses. A flexible caulk bead has been put in around each of the 6 panels.
